Donation For Nargi Cyclone Victims

Arakan Association (Singapore) is finding a fund for Nargi Cyclone Victims. The fund includes financial aid and clothing. The fund will go directly to the hands of the victims via Arakan Families (Yangon). The fund will continue until July 10, 2008. Initial amount of 1.4 million kyats was already donated. Vesak Day Ceremony

The ceremony of Vesak Day was held on May 19, 2008 at Maha Muni Buddhist Society, 23 A Jalan Mas Puteh, West Clementi. Dan Bauk, Kya San Hin Kha and Rakhaing Moon Di were served the whole day. Nearly 500 Buddhists were attended the ceremony.

Two DVDs Coming Soon

Two DVDs of 2008 Picnic and 2008 Thunn Gran were released. Two DVDs cost S$ 10. The purchase of these videos will help building the lives of the needy people of Arakan State.

In 2007 Academic Year, Arakan Association (Singapore) awarded three Scholars from Yangon and Magwe Medical Universites. Eight Scholars were also awarded by Arakanese in Singapore. This programme was arranged by Arakan Education Foundation (World Wide) and Rakhaing Tha Ha Ya Association (Yangon). Each Scholar receives 200, 000 Kyats (S$ 240) for an academic year. For 2008 Academic Year, 51 Arakanese Students apply Youth Scholarship Programme. Please give your support to them.

Arakanese Family Gathering and Annual Picnic is always held in within Chinese New Year days. Most of the Arakanese in Singapore were attended to meet their beloved ones. History: Arakan Association (Singapore) is a Non Government, Charitable, Social Organisation, formed by the Elite Professionals, Academicians and Workers from various segments of Arakanese Society. It was first established in 2003 as an Arakan Youth Association (Singapore). In 2007 general assembly, the name was changed to Arakan Association (Singapore).

The first ceremony of Arakanese Culture Sandal Wood Grinding and Taking Bathe Of Buddha Image was held in Singapore on April 12 and 13, 2008. Nearly 350 Arakanese and Burmese were attended the ceremony at Maha Muni Buddhist Society, 23 A, Jalan Mas Puteh, West Clementi, Singapore.
